This fall, step outside and see the natural world through a more creative lens.
This three-week outdoor art class invites you to slow down, reconnect with your surroundings, and explore the relationship between art, nature, and the senses. Held at the S77 Flower Patch in Ercole D'Amario Community Gardens, in Woodbridge, Ontario, each Saturday morning becomes an opportunity to observe, experiment, and make art in an inspiring outdoor setting.
Working with a variety of mixed-media materials designed for en plein air art-making, we will explore sketching, mark-making, colour, texture, art journaling, and other creative practices inspired by the landscape around us. Along the way, we’ll consider how paying closer attention—to the changing light, the textures of plants, the sounds of the garden, seasonal colours, and even the feeling of our materials—can transform the way we experience both art and everyday life.
This class also brings together creativity and a little practical knowledge of the natural world. We’ll explore gardening, growing, and ways to better connect with and creatively use whatever outdoor space is available to you, whether that’s a garden, balcony, backyard, or simply a favourite place to walk.
No previous art experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to get outside and make something.
